How architects use it

Clients ask "what will it cost?" long before a contractor will price it. A cost plan gives you figures to answer with, built from your own drawings and real merchant prices, by element, so you can show where the money goes and test design choices.

We also flag drawing issues we find while measuring. On a recent job a site plan drawn at 1:200 carried a 1:100 scale bar.

You stay in charge of what goes to your client. Check the figures before you share them: once you do, you are standing behind them. If your client needs figures a lender or contract can rely on, they need a chartered QS.

What to send

  • Planning drawings as PDF: plans, elevations, sections
  • Site plan for external works
  • Specification notes, if any
  • DWG or IFC, if you can share it
How it works

Four steps, fixed price

01

You send drawings

Send the PDFs. We confirm the fixed price and date, and you pay by card through Stripe.

02

We measure

Areas and lengths come from the drawing's own lines. We check the scale on every sheet and flag errors.

03

We price

Each material is priced from a Bradfords, Selco or Wickes product page, with the link in the workbook.

04

You check it

You get an Excel workbook with low, mid and high totals, built so you can check every line.

Questions

Questions from architects

Can I send the figures to my client?
Yes, with the "Read before use" sheet left in. Check them first: once you share them you are standing behind them.
Do you offer regular work rates?
Yes. Prepaid credit gives £550 for £500 or £1,150 for £1,000, and monthly credit gives £370 for £295 or £775 for £595. The list price never changes.
Are you quantity surveyors?
No. We are not chartered and not regulated by RICS. We produce estimates for budgeting and design decisions. If a lender, insurer, funder, tender or contract will rely on the figures, use a chartered quantity surveyor.
Who is responsible for the figures?
You are, once you use them. You must check every quantity and price before you rely on or share them. Our liability is limited to the fee you paid. The full position is in our terms of business.
